Possible Blue Entries

All of these are a parody on the blues: dreaming of blues, since I have two girls and am preggers again.

When Two Became One

I had the wonderful opportunity to shoot a wedding this weekend with a good friend and fellow photographer (with much more talent for this!) so we could assure the bride of some good shots. To see Teryn's pictures from the wedding, check out http://www.gundersenphotos.blogspot.com/. These are a select few of the shots I got that I like and am willing to share.
I wanted to get some of the little details, so here are the petals from the tables,

a close-up of one of the bouquets the bridesmaids carried,
and the bride's bouquet with her wedding jewelry, the necklace, laced through it.
Here's one of my favorites in front of the window.

Her daddy greeting her in the (very poorly lit) bar.

A shot of the bride with her bridesmaids at the alter.

I LOVED her face here, returning indoors (to the sweet, cool air!) in a mist of bubbles with her new hubby.

A cute moment with her bouquet and some joke or other.

And, lastly, the rings, right where they should be.

Talia

Today I had the opportunity to photograph my friend Talia at the location where the wedding I'm shooting next week will be. She was sitting in for the bride, who was unavailable this afternoon. I was excited to take pictures around the time that I'll be doing it next week, too.

If I remember to bring something for the bride to sit on, I like this type of pose a lot. I was seeing how strong the sun was...pretty strong. But then, the sun will be lower (not sure by how much) when I take pictures of the entire party, after the wedding. I loved this background, though.
I LOVE this little stairway, but not the window full of souveniers beside it. But I don't want to crop off her dress to lose the window. Hmm...
I like this background, again, but I think I need to get higher and get more of the dress.
Once again, just a different angle and I can get her chin up, get closer a little, and get more of the dress.
I had her pretend to hold a bouquet and I like this pose. I think I'll need to be higher, again.
Here she is pretending to hold out her dress and hold a bouquet. I think with a real dress there it will be pretty and elegant.
An easy, close-up with a nice background.
I like this, except I think I'll have the bride holding the bouquet, leaning her head back to follow the line of the tree. maybe?
This will be a good place for both bridal and bride/groom shot.
I liked this, but it came out fuzzy...so I used a trick of my friend and fellow photog and made it b/w. I will probably have to do this for several of the indoor shots.
A further-back of the previous pose. If the blue chairs weren't there, I'd like this a lot.
This is at the top of the stairs that the bride goes down. I will probably also do one from the bottom, looking up at her, since there's a really neat old bell that looks cool.
A front and mirror view. Again, I need to get above her more, especially to show the dress better. Another mirror shot. It's fairly obvious that I needed to bring my stool so I could get UP...that seems to be my own biggest complaint...any other pointers?
Thanks to Talia. I really enjoyed taking pictures of you. I'm glad you are a willing subject to give me practice in 'bossing'!

Breanna, Practice Poses

This last is my personal favorite. This was just practice to get me more confident telling people what to do, how to pose. It was an eye-opener. Evidently I am NOT confident. So there will be more shots of random people on here while I try to boost that bravery and bossiness!

Sara and CJ's Wedding Venue

Sara and CJ have chosen a darling, rusting restaurant as their wedding place. The reception will also be held here. These are just some of my walk-through pictures, as well as my favorite things about the place.

This is where 'the cake' will sit. They ring this bell while the bride and groom are standing at the top of the stairs, waiting to be introduced to their family and friends as a married couple.

Just thought this was cute. In the bride's preparation room, there is a 'royal' roman bath...very nice.

This is the dance floor which may or may not be used. There are two different places for dancing and this is the larger, so it depends on the turnout. I really liked the barrels-to-benches effect on the one side of the dancefloor.

The bride and groom and their attendants (the bridal party) sit here during the dinner. There are also stage lights to emphasize them there.
The main dining area. In the very back (pictured below in better detail), behind those arches, is an area with more tables, but those can be removed if the party is smaller and that would become the dance floor. This would be my preference, since it has skylights and therefore better lighting.

The ceremony will likely take place out here, weather permitting. It's a cute little courtyard.
Just another view of the courtyard.
A piece of furniture I admired.
These cherubs are on almost all of the ceiling beams, on either side of the chandaliers.
This fish pond is in the main dining area, and won't matter in the bridal shots or to the wedding party, but I liked it. I especially liked that the pond wall (below) has all these cute bricks with recipes on them. Really interesting!

Part of the wine cellar; again, in the main dining room, but looked neat.
A very pretty fireplace mantle in the main dining room.
One of the rustic chandeliers.
A very neat wood carving over the wine cellar, again in the main dining room.

We will be doing Sara's bridal shots here, in about two weeks, and after she sees those, we'll decide if she wants my help at the wedding and reception. Wish me luck!
